Description
Rothman Orthopaedicsis looking for a Medical Assistantto join our team! The Medical Assistant provides assistance to the Physician and Physicians Assistant with daily administrative and clinical duties. If you are qualified for and interested in this role please apply.
Responsibilities:
- Greets patients in the waiting room and escorts them to the exam room. Directs patient to surgery scheduling and/or front desk for checkout.
- Maintains order cleanliness and inventory in the exam room and prepares exam room for patients to enter.
- Cleans and autoclaves instruments.
- Provides and scans proper paperwork into the chart for Physicians review.
- Records vitals per Physicians request.
- Prepares injections for the Physician.
- Pulls up x-rays MRIs CTs and various studies pertaining to the patients exam.
- Assists patient with clothing when necessary.
- Disposes of bio hazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA regulation and replaces sharps containers when existing containers are full.
- Answers telephones in patient areas.
- Requests reports for various facilities for Physicians.
- Empties and restocks laundry.
- Scans appointment tracking to identify when patients are ready to be seen by the Physician and directs Physician in patient appointment order.
- Reviews Physician schedules for chart preparation including ensuring operative reports dictations and studies are present in the chart.
- Completes pre-certifications for MRIs injectable and other Physician orders as necessary.
- Scans information into patient record (including all Physician orders prescriptions etc. on the date of service.)
- Send Visco Injection authorization request to supplement pre-certification representative
- Covers other areas in the office when not assigned to a Physician.
- Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested.
- Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
Qualifications:
- HS Diploma or GED minimum education requiremnet
- Active CPR Certification
- Medical office procedures and medical terminology knowledge
- Computer skills including MS office
