What youll do
Responsibilities
The Information Technology department at NBCC delivers professional information and communication technology services guidance and expertise. Its mission is to empower the NBCC community to attain its objectives leveraging cutting-edge technologies available today and planning for the innovations of tomorrow.
Reporting to the Manager of Infrastructure and IT Security the Senior Technical Analyst maintains supports installs monitors consults architects and designs integrated systems and cloud solutions for NBCCs locations across the province.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver prompt and professional reactive support for system and cloud-related issues by diagnosing troubleshooting and resolving problems or coordinating their resolution. Act as an escalation point for complex issues and remain available for after-hours emergency response.
- Ensure accurate documentation of incidents and service requests conduct root cause analysis for recurring problems and consistently meet established service level objectives.
- Maintain optimal system and application availability security stability and performance by installing configuring testing and deploying new or upgraded solutions while developing and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation.
- Drive the evolution of system and cloud architecture by leading design enhancements developing new architectures applying standards to existing infrastructure monitoring compliance and identifying components for decommissioning.
- Proactively monitor and analyze system performance and security posture through log reviews automated alerts metric analysis and reporting on capacity performance and potential vulnerabilities.
- Collaborate with leadership to evaluate short- and long-term system and cloud requirements ensuring accurate documentation of configurations processes and service records.
- Develop implement and maintain policies procedures and training programs to support system administration operational best practices and disaster recovery readiness.
What youll need
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Diploma/Degree in computer science or engineering or information technology with five (5) years progressive experience within networking systems or cloud computing.
Industry-standard certifications within the incumbents specialized area including but not limited to Microsoft Azure cloud solutions wired and wireless networking virtualization technologies related cybersecurity practices and IT Service Management (ITIL Foundation) etc.
Professional Skills:
- Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize work apply departmental standards and meet deadlines.
- Managing stress is crucial given the high-pressure nature of their role requiring resilience and effective coping mechanisms.
- Ability to adapt to changes in work environment.
- Adapts easily to and welcomes technological changes.
- Exercises initiative to independently learn new technologies.
- Both written and verbal communication skills are vital for conveying technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Team Collaboration: works effectively in a team environment contributing positively to team operations and working relationships.
- Empathy and Emotional Intelligence: ability to understand and empathize with others showing sensitivity to their perspectives and needs.
