About the Team:
The Corporate Functions Data Office provides data governance services to Legal Compliance Risk and Internal Audit (LCAR) Human Resources and Finance.
About the Role:
The Data Steward will have responsibility for data acquisition improving the quality and managing the protection of sensitive data and information assets. The position will focus on ensuring adherence to data governance policies procedures and standards to ensure the integrity security and quality.
The Data Steward serves as the primary point of contact for their assigned functional areas for governance new data requirements data quality and protection issues and will work closely with them to improve the quality and value of core data assets as well as support the data requirements of the department.
Responsibilities of the Role:
Data Governance and Quality:
Establish and maintain data standards policies and procedures.
Monitor data quality and implement remediation processes for data issues.
Collaborate with data owners data product owners and custodians to ensure compliance with governance policies.
Metadata & Master Data Management:
Maintain metadata repositories and data dictionaries.
Support master data management initiatives to ensure consistency across systems.
Collaboration & Communication:
Act as a liaison between business units other data offices and IT to align data needs and priorities.
Educate stakeholders on data governance practices and the importance of data stewardship.

Oversee the lifecycle of key data assets including creation usage archiving and deletion.
Ensure data is classified and handled according to regulatory and internal standards.
Reporting & Documentation:
Develop and maintain documentation related to data definitions lineage and quality metrics.
Provide regular reports on data quality and stewardship activities.
Training and Education:
Deliver training sessions to educate stakeholders on data governance concepts and requirements.
Requirements of the Role:
Bachelors degree in Information Systems Data Management Business or related field.
3 years of experience in data governance data quality or data management roles.
Strong understanding of data governance frameworks and tools.
Experience with data profiling cleansing and metadata management tools.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g. GDPR HIPAA) is a plus.
Experience with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g. Power BI Tableau).
Knowledge of data modeling and database design.
Certification in data governance or data management (e.g. DAMA CDMP) is a plus.
Ability to develop cooperative and constructive working relationships
