Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for public service and user support The NC Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented User Support Analystto join our Public Safety South Coastal Region this pivotal role the individual serves as technical support to the NC Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the NC Department of Adult Correction (DAC) as a member of the Regional Technical Support Services Group (RTSS) within the Integrated Network Service (INS) team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Providing technical support in the areas of troubleshooting problem solving setup configuration and installation of desktops laptops printers and other computer-related hardware
  • Loading software and supporting end-user problems associated with hardware and software
  • Assist in the development and installation of local area network systems (LANS) cable infrastructure personal computers printers and operating systems
  • Working in concert with other management and program management to ensure business goals are met and project schedules are maintained
  • Providing user orientation of equipment and functionality
  • Managing IT equipment inventory in the Region
  • Participating in local and statewide IT Projects
  • Requires frequent regional/statewide travel

About the Division

The RTSS Group provides support for desktop and laptop computers mobile devices printers site surveys Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) WebEx and site infrastructure support. We cover over 400 sites including prisons community supervision juvenile justice and administrative offices across the entire state of North Carolina.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities / Competencies

The following Management Preferences are not required but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:

  • Experience with different types of computer hardware mobile devices software peripherals and components networking protocols fabricating LAN cables and communications
  • Experience consulting with clients and other IT professionals to resolve technical issues and ensure resolutions
  • Experience independently resolving routine and non-routine issues on software and/or hardware

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelors degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution plus one year of experience in the information technology field related to the positions role
OR
Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in the information technology field related to the positions role
OR
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in the field of technology related to the positions role; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

HYBRID/FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULES:

If you do not currently reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the assigned duty station new hires are granted up to 120 days from their start date to relocate.
