Ph.D. STUDENT (F/M/D) to study weak covalent bonds in MXene nanoconfinement for battery applications

Desired starting date: as soon as possible salary level E13 TV-L 60% contract limited to three years (with possible extension).

YOUR TASKS

  • Synthesis of MXene and other 2D nanomaterials for (electro)chemical applications.
  • Synthesis and functionalization of the intralayer space to study (and capitalize off) confinement effects.
  • Strong interaction within the GRK network at Saarland University.
  • Conduct electrochemical characterization including cyclic voltammetry galvanostatic charge/discharge and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.
  • Perform material characterization (X-ray diffraction Raman spectroscopy Scanning electroscope microscopy) ex situ and in situ.
  • Analyze data contribute to scientific publications and present research findings at international conferences.
  • Collaborate closely with our industrial partner and support the overall scientific goals of the project.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Masters degree in chemistry materials science energy materials or a related field.
  • Experience with 2D materials MXene and material characterization.
  • Experience with electrochemical methods and material synthesis.
  • Ability to work as a member of an international multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills thorough command of the English language. German language knowledge is very beneficial.
