Position Summary

Sony Honda Mobility of America (SHMA) is seeking a strategic and entrepreneurial Senior Manager Spare Parts Operations to build SHMAs spare parts operations from the ground up in a greenfield environment. This role will ensure availability accuracy and efficiency in supporting service teams across our U.S. operations mainly in California.

As a founding leader in our after-sales operations you will establish logistics partnerships design a robust backorder management framework implement KPI-driven procurement systems and drive the launch of accessories. A key challenge will be balancing service excellence with cost efficiency during the early phase of operations when the vehicle population is still limited.

This is a unique opportunity to play a foundational role in shaping SHMAs U.S. parts operations for the AFEELA brandsetting the standards systems and strategies that will define long-term success.

Job Responsibilities

  • Build SHMAs spare parts and logistics operations from scratch establishing scalable foundations for growth.
  • Identify and partner with warehouse management companies and logistics providers to create a flexible cost-efficient distribution network.
  • Establish delivery processes and digital tools to provide accurate reliable lead-time commitments to service centers and repair shops.
  • Design and implement structured backorder management processes including escalation paths supplier collaboration and proactive communication with stakeholders.
  • Define and track procurement and supply KPIs (on-time delivery cost inventory turnover) with dashboards reporting and continuous improvement actions.
  • Lead the setup and rollout of accessories and lifestyle product lines ensuring availability alongside vehicle launches.
  • Develop cost-control strategies suited for early-stage operations and scale them for future growth.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance accuracy and efficiency in parts and service systems.
  • Provide system and process training for parts advisors and service staff.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Service Supply Chain IT and Planning to resolve issues and improve operations.
  • Act as liaison with global supply chain counterparts in Japan to ensure U.S. and global alignment.
  • Recruit coach and develop team members fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.

Required Qualifications for Position

  • 5 years of experience in automotive supply chain or service operations with direct experience in spare parts or logistics management.
  • 2 years of leadership experience in parts or supply chain management.
  • Proven track record building or transforming spare parts/logistics operations (startup EV or greenfield environment preferred).
  • Strong expertise in backorder management supplier collaboration and parts operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and operate KPI-driven procurement and supply frameworks.
  • Technical knowledge of automotive service and parts operations (formal training and/or hands-on experience).
  • Strong analytical skills to balance service excellence with cost efficiency.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels.
  • Proficiency with supply chain and inventory management systems; advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred.
  • Flexibility to travel domestically as needed to service centers warehouses or headquarters.

Preferred Qualifications for Position

  • Experience launching or scaling parts operations in EV or premium automotive environments.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards warranty policies or dealer network operations.
  • Prior success in introducing accessory and lifestyle product lines.
  • Bilingual in Japanese or Spanish is a plus.

Additional Details

  • Work Arrangement: Full-time on-site role based in California (Torrance CA primary location).
  • Travel Requirements: Domestic travel required to service centers warehouses or headquarters.

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $130000$150000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors which may include as applicable the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position years of relevant experience specific and unique skills level of education attained certifications or other professional licenses held and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
