Student WorkerJob Description
The Student Hourly Assistant under general supervision will assist the accounting department with various administrative and financial tasks. The student assistant will be responsible for transferring information into Laserfiche while following proper procedures ensuring the department will run smoothly.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Financial Accountants and Financial Analysts with creating and editing financial documents and spreadsheets; checking spreadsheets for accuracy and consistency
- Drafting and reviewing documents and spreadsheets
- Assist with day-to-day operations (running errands data input and organizational tasks)
- Assist with incoming requests for journal entries and other back up materials for accounting entry
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
- Presently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University for at least nine (9) graduate or six (6) undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done.
- Must be in good academic standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum 2.0 GPA
- No prior experience necessary
- For work eligibility during a summer term a student must be enrolled for at least three (3) graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done or preregistered at least six (6) undergraduate semester hours or nine (9) graduate semester hours for the upcoming fall term.
Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel included)
- Excellent organizational and computer skills
- Works well with others and is a team player
