The Opportunity:
Build community and a sense of belonging within student populations by balancing the academic cultural and social support for students. The responsibilities of this position include the hiring supervision training and assessment of student workers. Additionally it leads the planning facilitation and support of designated larger events within the area. The position facilitates and coordinates area requests for visitations tabling and presentations. This position offers mentoring personal guidance and advocacy serving as consultant to student leaders and collaborating with a wide variety of university offices and personnel to provide students with comprehensive services to engage them in the pursuit of academic excellence. Supports learning objectives for special populations as identified by the Director.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time (100% FTE) permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary:
$4162.25 - $4530.49 Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidates current experience education skills and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
Positions require a Bachelors degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Masters degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a yearforyear basis.
Evidence of successful experience with programmatic organizational skills: planning implementation and evaluation.
Demonstrated cross-cultural competency and commitment to developing cross-cultural competency skills; knowledge of and direct experience working with underrepresented first generation and/or high financial need students in a higher education setting.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of student development factors impacting the college experience for students and families from a variety of backgrounds and effective academic and mentoring practices.
Experience creating and conducting presentations.
Extensive experience with Microsoft Office software.
Evidence of ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues and constituents.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with underrepresented first generation and/or high need college students.
Demonstrated familiarity with adjustment transition persistence achievement and graduation issues for underrepresented student populations.
Must have or be able to obtain by time of hire a valid drivers license and meet requirements in accordance withSPPM 7.10and departmental driving standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience counseling/advising students in a higher education environment.
Professional experience directly related to the design implementation and evaluation of academic programs mentoring and strategic planning at college level.
Demonstrated supervisory skills.
Experience facilitating professional development training supervision and evaluation of personnel.
Bilingual skills: Verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
Ability to form working relationships within the office university and outside agencies.
Ability and appropriate attitude to work as a member of a team.
