After a successful initial training period of 6 (six) months at the Oregon City office these individuals may work out of any of the 6 (six) ODHS offices in Clackamas County: Canby Estacada Milwaukie North Clackamas (82nd Ave) Beavercreek Road or Oregon City.

Summary of Duties
As an Adult Protective Service Specialists you will:
Investigate complaints of abuse or neglect
Plan the scope and direction of the investigation.
Interview the alleged victims alleged perpetrators and witnesses.
Apply administrative statutes administrative rules and facility regulations regarding abuse to investigative situations and determine a finding.
Conduct a preliminary assessment of the alleged victims safety possible risks to the investigator or other factors; determines need for emergency intervention.
Coordinate actions with law enforcement District Attorneys or other community partners to arrange for victims safety and security.
Give consultative or expert opinions to prosecutors and judges on adult abuse or neglect.
Minimum Qualifications
A valid drivers license and acceptable driving record are required for this position.
A Bachelors Degree in the human social behavioral or criminal sciences and two years human service law enforcement or investigative experience
OR
An Associates Degree in the human social behavioral or criminal sciences and four years human service law enforcement or investigative experience
Three years professional level experience related to the position may substitute for the Bachelors degree; 18 months for an Associates.
Essential Attributes
We are looking for candidates with:
Investigation Skills that include experience with investigating situations such as abuse neglect or crimes to gather important facts.
Experience interviewing and communicating with clients or members of the public who have challenges accepting or accessing assistance.
Experience in community healthcare or facility based long term care settings.
Experience staying organized and highly independent in a fast-paced environment while meeting competing deadlines during investigations.
Experience and comfortability with navigating multiple MS windows-based software applications including Microsoft Office and inputting data into those systems.
Experience with written documentation and an ability to write detailed analytical concise investigative reports that involves information from multiple witnesses documents/records and observations.

Working Conditions
Your work schedule will be Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm.
You will work in a fast-paced environment with constant changing priorities.
You will manage a steady influx of ongoing work and tasks.
Must be able to drive and meet with individuals in their homes community settings community based long term care facilities or other care settings.
Exposure to respiratory and bloodborne pathogens is possible.
You will be working directly with individuals affected by or responsible for cases of abuse neglect and exploitation
May be exposed to communicable diseases such as the flu virus Covid-19 and MRSA.
May be exposed to unsanitary environments and you will encounter animals.
You will interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma and may exhibit challenges in controlling their emotions.
You may encounter stressful situations that require quick decision-making to ensure safety of yourself and others.

The Oregon Department of Human Services does not offer visa sponsorship.
