Medication Technician (Med Tech) Responsibilities

• Administer medications via approved routes (oral topical instillation) according to facility protocols and state scope

• Apply the Six Rights of medication administration: right patient right drug right dose right time right route right documentation

• Monitor residents for side effects or reactions and report concerns to supervisor

• Document medication administration and resident responses per facility and regulatory guidelines

• Assist with vital signs and basic assessments when permitted by facility policy

• Provide personal care support (bathing grooming dressing mobility toileting) as needed

• Communicate changes in resident condition promptly to nursing leadership

• Follow all infection control safety and facility protocols

• Participate in trainings audits and quality assurance initiatives

• Maintain confidentiality respect and professionalism with residents families and staff

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Active Medication Aide certification in the State of North Carolina listed on the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry (completion of a state-approved training program and competency evaluation required).

• Active Nurse Aide I (NA I) certification listed on the North Carolina Nurse Aide Registry.

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs assist with resident mobility and stand/walk for extended periods.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication administration and documentation.

• Effective communication skills in English reading writing and verbal comprehension.

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a medication administration or Med Tech role preferred.
