Medication Technician (Med Tech) Responsibilities
Administer medications via approved routes (oral topical instillation) according to facility protocols and state scope
Apply the Six Rights of medication administration: right patient right drug right dose right time right route right documentation
Monitor residents for side effects or reactions and report concerns to supervisor
Document medication administration and resident responses per facility and regulatory guidelines
Assist with vital signs and basic assessments when permitted by facility policy
Provide personal care support (bathing grooming dressing mobility toileting) as needed
Communicate changes in resident condition promptly to nursing leadership
Follow all infection control safety and facility protocols
Participate in trainings audits and quality assurance initiatives
Maintain confidentiality respect and professionalism with residents families and staff
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Active Medication Aide certification in the State of North Carolina listed on the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry (completion of a state-approved training program and competency evaluation required).
Active Nurse Aide I (NA I) certification listed on the North Carolina Nurse Aide Registry.
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs assist with resident mobility and stand/walk for extended periods.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication administration and documentation.
Effective communication skills in English reading writing and verbal comprehension.
Minimum 1 year of experience in a medication administration or Med Tech role preferred.
