The Public Safety Training Officer at UnityPoint-Trinity is a vital position responsible for developing implementing and conducting training programs in Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) for all staff members. This roles main goal is to equip staff with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively manage and de-escalate potentially aggressive or violent situations thereby ensuring the safety and security of staff and patients.

Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive MOAB training programs tailored to the specific needs of UnityPoint-Trinity.
- Create engaging training materials including presentations handbooks and scenarios that effectively convey MOAB principles.
- Conduct MOAB training sessions for all staff members including healthcare professionals administrative staff and security personnel.
- Use interactive and practical training methods to teach staff how to recognize assess and respond to potentially aggressive behavior.
- Assess the effectiveness of MOAB training through post-training evaluations and feedback from participants.
- Collaborate with the Manager of Public Safety and other departments to ensure that MOAB training aligns with the hospitals overall safety and security Work closely with HR and department heads to schedule and track staff training progress.
- Maintain accurate records of staff training and certification.
- Generate reports on MOAB training outcomes and share findings with hospital leadership
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to training documentation.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
Experience:
- Minimum of one year of professional experience in public safety fire/EMS healthcare military or a community-based position.
License(s)/Certification(s):
- Must have a valid Drivers License and be insurable.
- International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS) Basic Certification. Upon becoming certified each officer must maintain this certification to remain at this job code and pay grade
- Must be certified in hands on only CPR a candidate will complete the course before employment.
- Must be a certified MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) Instructor.
- Must be certified in Handcuffs course a candidate will complete the course during the first six (6) months of employment.
- Must be certified in Pepper Spray and JPX course a candidate will complete the course during the first six (6) months of employment.
- IAHSS Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor (within 18 months)
