Job Description

Overview

The Simulation Technician assists with the implementation of the full spectrum of simulation methodologies utilized in the Ellmer School of Nursing with an emphasis on device-based person is responsible for operating maintaining and repairing computerized manikins task trainers and related multimedia peripherals;analyzing and resolving user and interface problems; assisting in the training and education of non-technical users;and advising leadership concerning procurement of hardware software and audio/visual equipment involving device-based simulation methodologies.

Responsibilities

Education and research support

  • Support faculty and other staff in designing and delivering actual virtual and/or web-based training/learning encounters.
  • Support research and administrative activities.
  • Support industry device testing.

Healthcare simulation training and operations

  • Participate in the setup operation troubleshooting and break down of healthcare simulation activities and technologies as well as associated audio-visual equipment.
  • Ensure timely transitions between simulation events.
  • Organize and maintain healthcare simulation equipment and supply inventory.

Other duties

  • May participate in scheduling logistical and execution support for all programs held at EVMS.
  • Perform other diverse duties as required to support ongoing education and training sessions develop simulation or educational technologies and perform research.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

This staff member needs to be detail-oriented flexible self-motivated and self-directed; able to meet deadlines; be a team player with good problem solving skills; and have willingness and aptitude to learn new technologies.
This individual also needs to have experience working with basic computer hardware and software relevant to simulator functions; familiarity with audiovisual production and editing function; and proficiency in Windows operating systems wired and wireless networks as well as database creation and use.
High School and five (5) years related experience or equivalent education is preferred but not required.
