This is an in person position with a monthly salary of $3417. Reporting to the Director of Library and Media Services the successful candidate joins a team focused on providing support and excellent customer service in an academic setting. Core duties include supporting student success retention and learning by providing exemplary customer service at the librarys checkout counter managing the periodicals holdings assisting with the management of online learning tools managing the librarys calendar and managing library scheduling tools. The candidate works with students staff and the general public. Hours worked are based on institutional need.
Essential Tasks
- Assists library users by providing exceptional customer service facilitating access to library materials and providing directional information.
- Under the guidance of the library director work with faculty and students to resolve problems and concerns in accordance with established Library/Media procedures.
- Lead on library policy and procedures manual (online and paper)
- Instruct users in the basics of library website navigation. Provide assistance in the use of laptops digital cameras printers and other library equipment. Contacts internal or external sources for maintenance as needed.
- Backup for reimaging student laptops before and after the start of every quarter
- Manage periodicals interlibrary loans and course reserves
- Compile usage data and prepare reports through Alma and Primo to support library assessment.
- Serve as lead backup for general staff and assist with problem solving as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Two years experience working with the public preferably in a library.
Basic knowledge of computers: programs and hardware.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working in an academic library.
Some college experience.
Customer service experience.
Experience using an integrated library system.
Experience working effectively within a diverse team and work environment.
Proficiency in more than one language (ASL Spanish Cantonese)
ABILITY TO:Think critically.
Manage time productively.
Provide exceptional customer service Interact positively with staff to enhance effectiveness and promote quality service.
Maintain effective working relationships with coworkers.
Organize and maintain records.
Be collaborative and an active listener.
Remain calm in high pressure/difficult situations.
Effectively communicate orally and in writing.
Follow Protocols and escalation procedures.
Work with multiple priorities in a fast-paced and changing environment.
