The RN Program Manager for Acute/ER/Trauma is responsible for overseeing operations staffing quality and performance improvement within the Emergency and Acute Care Departments. This role also serves as the liaison with pre-hospital EMS services and trauma referral centers ensuring excellence in care delivery across the trauma care continuum.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Department ManagementDirect the daily operations staffing training and development of the Emergency Room and Acute Care teams.
Serve as the hospital liaison to local EMS providers and trauma referral centers.
Coordinate a multidisciplinary trauma care approach across the continuum.
Ensure the clinical and financial performance of the Trauma Program.
Lead ongoing quality improvement and performance monitoring initiatives related to trauma and emergency services.
Facilitate Emergency Preparedness ER and Acute Care staff meetings.
Represent the departments on hospital committees and task forces as assigned.
Support a collaborative team approach to patient care in ER trauma and acute care settings.
Monitor department performance metrics including patient volumes staff performance and quality of care.
Maintain departmental dashboards aligned with organizational excellence pillars (People Service Quality Finance Leadership).
Provide direct patient care as a staff nurse when needed to support departmental staffing.
Complete annual performance evaluations and implement corrective action plans as necessary.
Support employee satisfaction initiatives and facilitate improvement plans through staff engagement.
Investigate and resolve patient staff and provider complaints.
Maintain employee competencies and oversee ongoing education requirements.
Promote adherence to hospital policies procedures mission and objectives.
Contribute to annual budgeting and ensure operational efficiency.
Implement plans to address any budget variances exceeding 5%.
Drive cost-effective operations while maintaining high standards of care.
Monitor and improve customer satisfaction and department performance outcomes.
Direct supervision of ER and Acute Care nursing staff.
Responsible for employee performance development and team effectiveness.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; candidates must be enrolled if not already obtained with completion expected within 2 years.
Current unrestricted RN license in Alaska (or another U.S. state with active Alaska licensure application at time of hire).
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) Required within 2 years of eligibility
High school diploma or GED
Clinical Competency Assessment Required within 3 months of hire
2 3 years of management and/or supervisory experience preferred.
3 years of ER experience in a similarly sized hospital preferred.
Emergency medical and trauma care standards and best practices.
