About the Role:
A leading international engineering and consulting firm is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to join its growing operations in the Northeast U.S. power transmission and distribution sector. The firm provides engineering solutions for industries such as power petrochemical manufacturing research facilities and astronomy. This role offers a hybrid work environment professional growth and exposure to large-scale infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and manage transmission line projects from planning through implementation.
Perform conductor selection structure recommendations insulation studies A/C interference analysis static wire and grounding studies.
Develop detailed line designs including plans profiles cross-section details and estimates.
Incorporate LiDAR and aerial survey data as well as environmental considerations (wetlands vernal pools and sensitive areas) in design and routing.
Lead and oversee overall transmission line design for all capital projects.
Review and create transmission line plans and profile drawings using PLSCAD to comply with standards such as AVANGRID TM and NESC.
Plan and strategize line routing considering right-of-way congestion local permitting issues and reliability optimization.
Conduct probability modeling cost estimation and other required technical analyses.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Civil Electrical or related discipline).
3 5 years (or more) of experience in power system civil engineering preferably with transmission lines.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Strong knowledge of line design routing strategies and transmission standards.
Proficiency with engineering design software such as PLSCAD.
Ability to analyze environmental and structural constraints and incorporate them into project plans.
