Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this classification the employee is frequently required to stand walk sit stoop kneel bend and work in an office and field/laboratory environment. Dexterity sufficient to don and doff radioactive anticontamination garments as well as use instrumentation to survey self and personal materials. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type handle materials manipulate tools and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds without assistance. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with the public is required. Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Nuclear Safety Analyst to work in our Facility Safety Engineering department. Our team works at the Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) with a 4x10 schedule with every Friday off. This position has the potential to be assigned to work on-site at our EROB facility in-town in Idaho Falls and work a 9x80 schedule with every other Friday off.
You will report to the Nuclear Safety Engineering Manager and you will manage the nuclear facility document safety analyses (DSAs) and technical safety requirements (TSRs) updates revisions or creation to ensure compliance to 10 CFR 830 Subpart B. Identify and analyze facility/activity radiological and chemical hazards for all hazard category 1 2 3 and less than 3 facilities. Assess risk (frequency and consequences) of potential adverse effects of hazards on facility workers collocated workers and the public. Identify applicable requirements perform analyses and author safety bases that document assumptions results and requirements to prevent or mitigate hazards. Based on sound engineering principles identify controls (design and administrative) necessary to reduce risks to acceptable levels. Perform or arrange for engineering and/or technical studies supporting hazard and accident analyses. Prepare update or revise various types of nuclear facility documented safety analyses (DSAs) technical safety requirements (TSRs) un-reviewed safety questions (USQs) transportation plans and basis for interim operations (BIOs) as necessary for obtaining operating approval from the DOE as necessary.
