Heart Hospital of Austin is a specialty adult facility with 72 beds featuring six operating rooms one EP lab and one cath lab. The hospital is nationally recognized for its award-winning cardiac care and is home to a team of exceptionally friendly and caring surgeons who consistently achieve outstanding outcomes. Case Assignments
- Open hearts EP Lab Structural heart (TAVRs mitral clips watchmans) Heart Failure (LVAD ECMO Mechanical Support) minor and major vascular endovascular general surgery. No OB peds neuro transplants.
- In 2024 there were 543 pump cases 256 TAVRs and 108 mitral clips.
Shifts
- Overnight call is home-call 9 weekends per year and 1 weekday per week

Requirements
Responsibilities
- Assist in the directing and coordinating of activities in the Anesthesia Department
- Responsible for the medical management of patients who are rendered unconscious and/or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgery and other medical procedures
- Pre-anesthesia assessment
- Obtains and/or verifies patient consent
- Discuss anesthetic options and risks with the patient Induction maintenance and emergence from anesthesia
- Monitoring of the patients physiological condition
- Performance of clinical intervention as needed
Requirements
- M.D./D.O. Degree from an accredited College of Medicine
- TEE proficiency is required
- Completion of Cardiac Fellowship
- ECFMG and FLEX
- Completion of approved Residency in Anesthesia
- Currently licensed as a Physician
