Position Summary:
Reporting to the Process Project Engineer; the Environmental Management System (EMS) Specialist is responsible for implementing Environmental Management Systems (EMS) under the ISO 14001 standard. The position supports environmental management in ensuring compliance with local regulations the sites environmental policy and global requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Coordinates the sites legal review to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and implements the required Action Plan.
Implements the sites ISO 14001 certification process.
Consolidates tracks and reports on environmental metrics and incidents using the tools and platforms provided by the Global Team.
Lead efforts to improve environmental metrics.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in Environmental Engineering is highly preferred. Post-secondary education in Chemical and/or Industrial Engineering is also applicable.
Previous experience in the manufacturing industry is considered an asset.
Participation in environmental audits under ISO 14001 is considered an asset.
Knowledge of the ISO 14001 Standard is considered an asset.
Knowledge of local environmental regulations is preferred.
Must have effective communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with all departments and all levels of the organization.
Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office Excel Word PowerPoint and Outlook is required.
