About the Role:

The Publishing Operations team is responsible for the implementation of operational change and support across Wileys portfolio of journals. This team performs operational tasks at scale such as process and workflow change updates editorial data management operational change tracking transition implementation and tracking and other supporting activities. Within the team the Assistant Journal Operations Manager assists with the title and portfolio-level operational tasks for large projects and strategic implementations largely through maintaining a tracking and reporting pipeline. This person will work independently and should have a good understanding of the workflows and processes that are best practice in the Research Publishing business.

The Assistant Journal Operations Manager role is critical in the operational management of the Research business. The Assistant Journal Operations Manager will work well across regional and team boundaries and should be an excellent coordinator of cross-functional activities. The Assistant Journal Operations Manager reports to a Senior Manager in Publishing Operations who has direct responsibility for decisions on the projects taken on by the Assistant Journal Operations Manager as well as the strategic direction of the team.

How you will make an impact:

  • Collect and prepare data: provide standard monthly reporting on the Journal Operational Change Tracker (JOCT) tool as pulled from Salesforce.
  • Define and monitor KPIs: expand the monthly reporting template by exploring additional data points available in Salesforce such as TATs and track accordingly.
  • Explore automation: upskill on automated monitoring tools and dashboards to gather data in real-time.
  • Develop and propose improvements: leverage data to uncover insights and translate into tangible recommendations for process enhancements.
  • Maintain data systems: enhance and maintain Power Bi dashboard on operational metrics.
  • Perform tasks related to the implementation of programs across the Research business at scale that enhance our journal portfolios and reduce time and costs for the business.
  • Serve as liaison to teams within Research Publishing for central management of operational systems and workflows.

What we look for:

  • Data literate and able to quickly adapt to new systems and platforms Salesforce experience is a bonus.
  • High level knowledge of MS Excel experience with Power BI is a bonus.
  • Motivated to seek out new opportunities and think strategically to identify and address future needs or challenges.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thrives independently but is also a team player someone who is personable and able to form relationships.

We are committed to fair transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive compensation in addition to a comprehensive benefits package. The range below represents Wileys good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting roles either in the United Kingdom Canada or USA. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall within the range however the ultimate salary offered for this role may be higher or lower and will be set based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to geographic location skills and competencies.
