Job Description

Gileads therapeutic areas of focus include liver diseases infectious diseases inflammatory diseases and oncology.

Gilead Sciences Japan is seeking a visionary and strategic leader to join our Liver Business Unit as the Marketing Director Liver Franchise. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead the marketing strategy and execution for our liver portfolioincluding HBV HCV and potential new product launches.

You will be responsible for driving commercial excellence leading cross-functional initiatives and building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external medical communities. This is a high-impact role for a seasoned marketer who thrives in a dynamic science-driven environment to help shape the future of Liver diseases in in Japan.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies for liver products including new launches and lifecycle management.
• Translate global commercial strategies into localized action plans tailored to the Japanese market.
• Serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership contributing to long-term business planning.
• Lead cross-functional teams including Medical Affairs Value & Access Commercial Operations Clinical Development and Government/Public Affairs.
• Drive co-commercialization initiatives and joint promotional efforts with external partners.
• Build and lead a high-performing marketing team fostering a culture of excellence innovation and accountability.
• Recruit coach and develop talent to meet evolving business needs.
• Cultivate relationships with liver disease specialists key opinion leaders and medical societies (e.g. JSH JDDW).
• Leverage Gileads nationwide liver network to maximize promotional impact.
• Engage and influence at senior cross functional levels within and above country.
• Conduct strategic marketing activities including market and competitive research and product positioning.
• Identify actionable insights based on market research and ensure that the product/brand addresses unmet need areas.
• Collaborate with Sales Team to ensure effective marketing plan roll-out/implementation.
• Plan and prepare effective product/message sales training with training team.
• Lead conceive develop and implement omnichannel/digital marketing plans.
• Manage partnerships with agencies to ensure flawless execution.
• Create and execute KOL strategy and engagement plans.
• Manage marketing budget and OPEX.
• Serve as a core member of the Liver Leadership Team and partner closely with BUD as strategic advisor.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in marketing science or related field required.
• MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical marketing with exposure to liver or GI diseases preferred.
• 3 years of successful people leadership experience
• Deep understanding of Japans healthcare environment and promotional code.
• Proven ability to lead strategic initiatives and drive execution across functions.
• Strong communication influencing and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in Japanese and English (TOEIC 900 or equivalent).

Requirements

• Strong experience in developing differentiated brand positioning and messaging and leading marketing tactics.
• Strong analytical skills demonstrated by the ability to identify and interpret complex issues and provide appropriate recommendations to senior management and across functional areas.
• Experience leading cross functional teams and driving change initiatives.
• Experience working with multiple external key stakeholders including Medical Societies
• Strong resilience abstract thinking and problem-solving ability.
