The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Turf Manager at Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium.
Position Overview
This Parks Manager position is responsible for developing and implementing plans for the successful maintenance of all athletic fields and grounds planning overseeing and project-managing major athletic grounds and field renovation projects. Specifically this position will manage the care and maintenance of Bermuda turf and grounds for an Internationally Certified Cricket grounds and multipurpose stadium. The Turf Manager is responsible for the staff oversight of assigned personnel. Additionally this position is responsible for developing and managing budgets related to athletic fields and grounds purchasing maintaining and managing inventory of athletic field maintenance equipment and supplies supervising the conversion and protection of athletic fields during special events restoring fields damaged by weather use or other conditions managing and reviewing irrigation system performance and initiate changes when necessary and attending sporting events to supervise field use. Furthermore this person will be a Division-wide subject matter expert (SME) for the Parks and Recreation Divisions sports/athletic fields turf maintenance.
General Description
This classification performs management duties associated with regional parks neighborhood parks and/or nature centers. This classification is distinguished from the position of Parks Manager Associate by an increased level of operational and management responsibility for multiple regional and/or neighborhood parks and/or nature centers park size the complexity and types of programs event and amenities being managed the number of subordinate staff supervised and the years of experience required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in parks and recreation management Agronomy Turf/Turfgrass Management Landscape Management hospitality management public administration business administration environmental sciences engineering or closely related field.

Manages day-to-day park operations to include program implementation staff support and supervision customer service facilities maintenance and security and compilation of various operational reports related to safety attendance personnel issues revenue and inventory.
Oversees the general maintenance of stadium facilities by maintaining the highest level of playing surfaces for all sports and prepare grounds for major events.
Hires trains supervises and evaluates employees; establishes performance goals and objectives in alignment with the Divisions strategic plan.
Ensures compliance with directives policies procedures laws contracts agreements and health and safety standards as it pertains to a park operation within a governmental agency.
Plans organizes implements and supervises major recreational programs and large special events including education for leisure activities athletics tournaments festivals concerts fairs and expositions.
Works with organized groups and individuals to assess community-wide program needs and interests formulate new programs develop additional amenities and support agency goals.
Supervises the volunteer program as site coordinator; develops volunteer opportunities.
Manages concession facilities to include: ordering and inventorying food and purchasing equipment.
Reviews and approves requisitions for materials and supplies for park operations and maintenance.
Maintains park budgets and records of revenue and expenditures.
Explains and interprets rules and regulations fees and charges.
Responds to incidents within the park and prepares narrative reports of incidents; enforces or refers enforcement to proper authorities.
Responds to park patron issues complaints comments and requests - listens explains policies and procedures resolves issues and follows up as appropriate.
Conducts periodic inspections of all park areas and facilities; observes deficiencies in operation safety and condition; issues verbal or written directives to correct deficiencies; reviews subordinate reports.
Communicates with managers/supervisors administrative staff volunteers and the public in a positive and professional manner.
Maintains professional and positive relationships with subordinates peers supervisors and stakeholders.
Serves as the lead for logistics and security for all emergency the absence of the Senior Park Manager the Park Manager will act as the Point of Dispensing Manager.
Performs related work as assigned.
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
Performs work that involves walking or standing most of the time and involves exerting up to 25 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and up to 50 pounds on occasion with skill adeptness and speed in the use of fingers hands or limbs on repetitive operation of mechanical or electronic office equipment or tools within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy.
