JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Penn State is searching for a full time Maintenance Worker Labor and Equipment - Grade 7 to join the team. Duties include:Perform duties of central labor crew in performing a variety of labor work for any University department
Move furniture machines equipment and construction material; unload trucks of incoming material and move to storage locations
Assist tradesperson in the removal of transformers heat exchangers research material etc.; handle materials for repair construction and alteration of buildings and/or grounds
Perform rigging and handling of material and equipment being moved and/or removed by crane at various job sites or University locations; escort cranes through traffic by directing traffic and securing area
Deliver lab and research equipment and materials to various University locations as directed
Perform patch repairs to concrete walks road driveways parking areas etc.; operate pavement breaker air compressor tamper and spreader box
Remove old floors and walls in building alterations
Clean and remove debris from various job sites
Drive truck as required; perform routine maintenance such as checking oil gas tires water batteries etc.
Operate forklift skidloader dump truck front-end loader and snowplow
Assemble and dismantle bleachers at various locations; assemble tables platforms etc. for banquets concerts etc.
Deliver assemble erect secure disassemble and remove scaffolding to and from various campus locations as required
Dig holes trenches ditches; erect barricades and safety fences at job sites; rake and shovel soil for landscaping
Test water softeners for hardness; refill with salt; order salt when necessary
Job Requirements: Requires the use of simple writing adding subtracting whole numbers and the carrying out of instructions; and the use of fixed gauges and direct reading instruments and devices in which interpretation is not required. Requires Pennsylvania Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class B with the ability to drive airbrake equipped vehicles. Over 6 months up to and including 9 months of effective experience.
Work Schedule:6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Days Off:Friday Saturday Sunday

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES
Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid drivers license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This position is subject to federal Department of Transportation testing for alcohol and controlled substances (49 CFR PART 40) and physical examination requirements as per PA. CODE 231.85.Penn State does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a staff employment Visa. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
