Job Summary

AWS Data Migration Engineer
Malvern PA or Charlotte NC (Onsite Day 1 No Remote)
1 Year Contract (with strong potential for multi-year extension)

AWS Data Migration Engineer to support Vanguards large-scale database migration initiatives. This role will focus on replicating and migrating enterprise data from on-premise DB2 mainframe systems to AWS cloud platforms while ensuring accuracy availability and performance. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in AWS database services automation and scripting to streamline data workflows and improve operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform data replication and migration from DB2 on-prem mainframe systems to AWS cloud environments using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).
Ensure data synchronization integrity and availability during migration processes.
Manage and optimize cloud databases such as Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL and SQL Server within AWS RDS and Aurora environments.
Develop automation scripts using Python and PowerShell; Java development experience is a plus.
Build and maintain automation/orchestration workflows using AWS Lambda Step Functions and CloudFormation.
Troubleshoot and resolve data replication/migration issues ensuring minimal downtime.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including database administrators cloud architects and application developers to deliver seamless migration solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

6 years of experience in database engineering migration or replication within enterprise environments.
Hands-on experience with AWS DMS for database migration/replication.
Strong expertise with AWS RDS Aurora (PostgreSQL MySQL) and SQL Server in cloud environments.
Proficiency in Python and PowerShell scripting for automation.
Familiarity with AWS Lambda Step Functions and CloudFormation.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in cloud migration scenarios.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

Java development experience.
Exposure to DB2 mainframe systems and legacy modernization projects.
Experience with large-scale regulated financial services environments.
