Please review the following job description:

To actively handle all aspects of the claims process for Managing General Underwriter/Lloyd's Coverholder including analysis review and resolution of complex property and liability claims and oversight of outside litigation counsel independent adjustors surveyors and other experts and to assume primary responsibility for maintenance of claims data and issuance of loss runs claims bordereaux and other statistical information necessary to in-house underwriting staff carrier partners retail brokers and assureds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed both major and minor which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
1. Receive reports of incidents from brokers and assureds with availability 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
2. Determine all potentially applicable policies and analysis of coverage issues under multiple lines of coverage including but not limited to hull P&I MEL MGL wharfingers terminal operators stevedores boat brokers contractors equipment inland marine excess and umbrella policies.
3. Conduct or oversee investigations.
4. Evaluate liability and damages.
5. Establish and updating reserves.
6. Determine appropriate settlement amounts.
7. Select assigning and supervise outside attorneys independent adjustors marine surveyors engineers medical auditors and other experts as warranted by the facts of each particular claim.
8. Attend and actively participate in mediations settlement conferences depositions and trials as representative of the carrier.
9. Maintain claim files in appropriate format to meet all carrier requirements.
10. Prepare and draft complex correspondence including but not limited to reservation of rights and denial of coverage letters letters of undertaking position papers releases and other settlement documents and notices and status reports to carriers and reinsurers.
11. Prepare loss runs and claims bordereaux.
12. Liaise with staff underwriters to keep them apprised of claims activity on account basis.
13. Participate in claims audits by carriers and reinsurers.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. Five years of work experience in claims department of insurance carrier MGU or retail broker
2. Claims Adjustor license in state of residence and non-resident Claims Adjustor license in any state in which claims adjusting functions are to be performed
3. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Package (Word Excel etc.) and the ability to learn and utilize bespoke insurance software applications
4. Knowledge of the structure of and participants in the U.S. and London insurance markets and marine insurance principles practices and procedures
5. Knowledge of and familiarity with the various types of marine equipment insured
6. Strong verbal and written communication skills with emphasis on accuracy confidentiality tact and diplomacy
7. Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
8. Some travel required
9. Ability to work extended hours when necessary
