About the role:

As part of an effective Health Safety & Wellbeing Team within the Chief Executives Directorate you will report to the Head of Health Safety and Wellbeing. You will actively promote a positive safety culture and provide practical advice guidance support and training to managers and staff across the Council including schools.

You will help to develop and implement the councils health and safety policy and management system. You will have responsibility to provide support to all directorates develop and deliver designated training sessions conduct site inspections and audits including follow-up visits and complete and support accident investigations to identify root causes and reasonably practicable improvements for implementation. Supporting the awareness and improvement of staff wellbeing is a key requirement.

You will be flexible with an ability to communicate at all levels and provide practical solutions and influence change for continual improvement of health safety and wellbeing for staff and managers. You will hold the NEBOSH/NCRQ Diploma or equivalent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provision of competent advice to relevant stakeholders
  • Maintenance of H&S management systems
  • Accident and Incident Investigation and Reporting
  • Training design and delivery
  • Project Management and supervisory support for team members as required

Qualifications and Requirements:

To be considered for this position you should meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent
  • Hold Chartered or Certified Membership of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health)
  • Have previous experience influencing and engaging at all levels within a large complex organisation
  • Be physically able to undertake year-round site visits
