We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Student Counsellor to play a key role in supporting the mental health wellbeing and educational engagement of students. This position holder will workcollaboratively with staff students and families to foster a safe inclusive and supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with staff to plan and implement evidence-based interventions.
- Respond to critical incidents requiring counselling support.
- Assist in developing and delivering wellbeing programs and policies.
- Facilitate workshops and professional learning for students and staff.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with professional and legislative standards.
- Liaise with external agencies and referral networks.
- Actively contribute to the Schools child safety culture and comply with all relevant policies and legislation.
Key Selection Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology Counselling Social Work or a related discipline.
- Experience working with children and adolescents in educational or clinical settings.
- Strong understanding of child development mental health and trauma-informed practice.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Commitment to ethical practice confidentiality and professional development.
- Willingness to uphold and model the Schools values and Anglican ethos.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience developing and delivering wellbeing programs in schools.
- Familiarity with school systems and educational frameworks.
- Knowledge of local referral pathways and community support services.
