Are you a code-savvy professional with a passion for building safety and innovation The Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) is looking for a Building Official to lead critical construction oversight at MinneapolisSt. Paul International Airport (MSP)one of the nations busiest and most dynamic transportation hubs.


In this pivotal role youll work under the direction of theVice President of Planning and Developmentto:

  • Lead the building permit process from start to finishreviewing plans issuing permits and conducting inspections for both MAC and tenant projects.
  • Ensure safety and compliance with all applicable building electrical plumbing mechanical fire and occupancy codes.
  • Collaborate across departments and with external consultants contractors and regulatory agencies to keep projects on track and up to code.
  • Issue certificates of occupancy after confirming all requirements are metplaying a key role in bringing new spaces to life at MSP.
  • Shape policy and streamline processes for permit applications and recordkeeping helping to enhance efficiency and support modern construction practices at the airport.

Position Description

JOB DUTIES

PEOPLE LEADERSHIP
  • Supervise and direct the operations and activities of the business unit.
  • Create and maintain a rewarding and productive work environment; and provide opportunities for employee growth and development.
  • Integrate MACs purpose values and strategic goals into area of responsibility and management of daily activities.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled communication sessions with staff to communicate organizational goals issues and information to employees; to discuss work activities individual goals and gather employee feedback.
  • Communicate clear performance expectations and standards to direct report employees provide timely and regular feedback conduct annual performance reviews and recognize employee achievement.
  • Facilitate effective working relationships among department employees and between Airport Development and other MAC departments consultants and other agencies.
  • Hear and address employee issues/concerns; administer disciplinary action as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure current and future effective staff utilization through hiring promoting transferring and discharging employees.
  • Proactively support a safe working environment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
  • Building inspection experience at a medium and/or large hub air carrier commercial airport.
  • Construction inspection experience with food beverage or retail build outs/improvements.
  • Complex project planning and construction experience with large complicated buildings or with multi-building campuses.
  • Experience managing a budget.
  • Experience managing staff consultants or contractors
  • Experience with sustainable building practices.
  • Experience using Project Information Management Software (PIMS) or equivalent software.
