About the Role

As an experienced Womens Mens and Pelvic Health Physiotherapist or Continence Physiotherapist you will provide clinical leadership and be responsible for assessment and management strategies for clients referred with specific continence conditions.

You will:
Carry out comprehensive and evidence based assessments care planning and treatment
Participate in patient goal setting at multidisciplinary case review meetings
Provide specialist education and advice to colleagues and clients regarding continence management and pelvic floor rehabilitation
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to improve the Continence and HIP Programs

Classifications for this position will range from VB7 - VC1 ($104135.20- $118981.20 per annum pro rata for part time).

About Continence Clinic
The Continence Clinic is a specialist service that applies a multi-disciplinary team approach to the assessment and management of bladder and bowel issues or pelvic floor dysfunction. We service adults in the geographical areas of the Cities of Darebin Yarra and Boroondara and Melbourne. It is a multidisciplinary clinic consisting of nurses physiotherapists geriatricians and admin staff. The service is based at St Georges Hospital.

LOCAL WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is part of the Health Independence Program (HIP). The intent of HIP is to deliver improved outcomes forclients and to support hospital demand management and flow through delivering integrated and coordinated care
to clients across the hospital and community interface reducing duplication and fragmentation of services andensuring client centred care planning.
SVHM HIP consists of integrated hub sites across several locations including in Fitzroy Kew North Richmond andFairfield.
The Access Rehab and Clinics Stream consists of multidisciplinary intake unit outpatient rehabilitation programsand Specialist Clinics including the Continence Clinic which is currently based at Kew and Fitzroy.
The Continence Clinic provides specialist assessment and management of both urinary and faecal incontinence topeople over 16 years of age in the geographical areas of the Cities of Darebin Yarra and Boroondara andMelbourne.
This position may be required to work from any of the SVHM HIP sites and may be required to work within any of theHIP programs. This will be at the discretion of the HIP manager and will take into consideration appropriate skills and
training.


POSITION PURPOSE
The Continence Physiotherapist will coordinate the specialist assessment and management strategies for clientsreferred with continence problems including pelvic floor rehabilitation and pain. Educational supervisory responsibilities evaluation and quality improvement activities will also be undertaken.

5. POSITION DUTIES
Provide highly demonstrable specialist assessment and management interventions for both urinary andfaecal incontinence and associated disorders.
Complete comprehensive and evidence based assessments care planning and treatment especially pelvicfloor rehabilitation for outpatient clients who are experiencing continence difficulties.
Conduct pelvic floor group program including evaluation
Evaluate treatment /management using appropriate objective measures
Participate in triage of referrals as required
Participate in patient goal setting at multidisciplinary case review meetings.
Provide specialist education and advice to colleagues and clients regarding continence management andpelvic floor rehabilitation
Manage the discharge process for clients
Work in close liaison with colleagues other key service providers families and careers relevant to caseload
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the Continence team HIP referral sourcesand other agencies
Act as a key resource person within the Continence Service and HIP
Communicate client issues effectively with other team members
Identify opportunities for improvement of service delivery and implement approved strategies to addressthese.
Contribute to the ongoing development and updating of current departmental clinical literature andresources as requested.
Participate in project working groups / quality improvement initiatives to improve the service
Achieve activity targets and complete activity statistics by end of working week or 3rd day of next month(whichever comes first)
Complete medical record documentation to required standards and on the day of intervention

INCUMBENT CAPABILIITY REQUIREMENTS (Level 3)
The incumbent of this position will be expected to possess the following core capabilities:

Minimum of 7 years physiotherapy experience
Knowledge of relevant continence specific community resources and services.
Demonstrated sound knowledge of current evidence based practices in the area of continenceassessment management and evaluation.
Ability to assess and treat incontinence including undertaking vaginal and rectal examinations in womenand rectal examinations in men as appropriate.
Ability to provide electrical stimulation and biofeedback training as appropriate in women and men.
Ability to plan and carry out evaluative research in physiotherapy and continence practice at the level ofbeginning researcher.
Demonstrated ability to work alone or within an interdisciplinary team.
Highly developed organisational planning and problem solving skills.
Highly developed interpersonal skills including excellent communication and leadership skills.
Highly developed documentation and computer skills with Microsoft office Microsoft Word and Excel and
Power Point.
Well-developed teaching and education skills.


8.1 ESSENTIAL REGISTRATION LICENSE OR QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) or equivalent
Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Postgraduate qualification in the treatment of continence and pelvic floor


8.2 OTHER NON ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Highly desirable
Member of Continence Foundation of Australia and CFA Vic Physiotherapy
Special Interest Group &/or member of Australian Physiotherapy Association
