Location: IKO Glass Fiber Inc. Chester SC Department: Health and Safety Type: Full Time (FT/PT/Cont)

WHEN YOU JOIN US YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE TO;

• Promote and maintain IKO safety goals and ensure a safe work environment for all employees. Leads safety and housekeeping efforts and corrective actions within department assigned projects and areas with goal of zero incidents. Exemplifies safety in all actions and leads by example.
• Develop goals objectives and systems as well as plant wide policy and procedures relating to health and safety. Communicates and implements progressive methods and approaches regarding accident prevention. Identify health and safety hazards and investigate work related accidents in an effort to eliminate those hazards through engineering controls training PPE adjustments etc. Conduct thorough root cause analysis to ensure root cause is eliminated in response to any safety related incident.
• Manage all activities related to safety and workers compensation including first report of injury OSHA 300 log safety related audits communication with insurance carrier communications with physicians & associate and all record keeping.
• Complete all safety audits records and reports on time and as required. File and maintain safety records as required.
• Monitor the safety performance and trends of the plant and minimize the number of work- related incidents to protect the safety of associates and to minimize the companys risk and exposure.
• Accountable for the implementation and management of Behavior Based Safety.
• Possess a strong background in medical treatment information and can collaborate with local healthcare providers to provide employee care as well as employee case management.
• Accountable for coordinating with external providers for successful claims management and return to work practices. Ensure the company is in compliance with all applicable Federal State Local and Company health and safety regulations or policies including OSHA TOSHA NIOSH etc.
• Lead IKO Safety and BBS teams. Conduct required safety training and orientation.
• Participate and lead all internal and external surveillance audits.
• Perform and coordinate various testing including noise surveys industrial hygiene etc.
• Develop update and implement emergency response procedures to protect people and assets during emergency situations that impact the facility.
• Complete and maintain all environmental permits records audits and reports. File and maintain as required. Including but not limited to SWPPP SPCC air storm water and wastewater.
• Interfaces with government regulatory personnel and corporate auditors.
• Ensure compliance with Federal State Local and Company policies and regulations (NFPA TOSHA EPA TNAIR FM NEC etc).
• Plan organize and direct the work performed with contractors in achieving desired results while maintaining cost in accordance with specified budget. Ensure work is safely performed adhering to all applicable safety policies and regulations.
• Lead and participate in all internal and external surveillance audits by either local or state agencies as well as insurers etc.
• Organize and maintain the necessary facility security.
• Any and all duties as assigned.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE;

• Prior Health Safety and Environmental experience.
• Three or more years of manufacturing experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written verbal and presentation) with the ability to effectively work with others in a team environment. Demonstrated initiative and the ability to handle complex assignments with a proactive attitude.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to develop and manage a budgetary control process for areas of responsibility. Analytical data-driven problem solving and action planning skills.
• Ability to make independent and well thought out decisions.
• Organized self-starter results oriented unique problem solver
• Ability to provide simple and accurate instructions.
• Ability to work at times in a high temperature environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Regularly required to sit stand walk bend climb reach and grasp.
• Ability to climb stairs ladders and work from heights.
