This role is part of Blue Origin Operations which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain Test Operations Safety Quality and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a hardworking team of specialists youll perform environmental testing of flight hardware for various spaceflight systems. In this hands-on position youll work directly with a small team operating and maintaining the environmental test equipment we use for development qualification and acceptance testing of flight hardware.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise leadership skills and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Conduct hands-on thermal vibration shock and vacuum testing on flight hardware in accordance with MIL-STD-810 SMC-S-016 and MIL-STD-1540
  • Demonstrated ability to work with test flight and safety critical hardware tools and shop equipment
  • Setup and safely operate high energy systems (e.g. high pressure gas and electrical)
  • Operate and maintain environmental test equipment including data acquisition systems environmental chambers vibration systems and instrumentation systems
  • Conduct and/or oversee several test projects simultaneously while supporting operations schedules
  • Configure test setups fixtures and instrumentation per test plans and standards
  • Generate test plans test reports procedures and work instructions from customer requirements
  • Design test fixtures per requirements test plans and standards
  • Maintain cleanliness of test equipment and test lab
  • Identify communicate and mitigate cost schedule and technical risks
  • Participate in Process/Job Hazard Assessments
  • Weekends and OT dependent on company needs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma GED or equivalent work experience

  • Experience with hand tools and mechanical assemblies
  • Passion for learning new skills and willingness to embrace new challenges
  • Strong communication interpersonal and self-starting skills
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Able to stand for extended hours
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated strong safety mindset and experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with thermal vibration shock or thermal vacuum testing
  • Associates Degree (A.S.) in an engineering discipline (mechanical electrical or physics preferred)
  • Experience testing aerospace hardware
  • Ability to utilize test instrumentation and control components (e.g. pressure transducers thermocouples RTDs strain gauges accelerometers flow meters load cells relays solenoid valves)
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical schematics and reports
  • Experience with high pressure system design and handling
  • Experience with hydraulic system design and handling
  • Experience with cryogenic system design and handling
  • Experience using test instrumentation and control components
  • Availability for weekend shifts or overtime as required for specific tasks or test series
  • Position level will be commensurate with experience


Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $24.02-$33.63

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding) Road Test Hours of Service Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only) vehicle inspection requirements CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
