Job Description

Our internship programme has led to the offering of permanent and full-time associate consultantpositions to our interns since 2021. We are delighted to continue this in 2026 and startthe search for our next Intern.

As an intern you will work with and support HAMERKOPs consultants with research and analyses inrelation to pre-feasibility feasibility impact certification and monitoring of climate change mitigationprojects eligible to carbon financing mechanisms; as well as more policy-oriented and institutionalresearch. Most projects are taking place in the context of natural ecosystems (e.g. forestconservation reforestation mangroves etc.)occasionally other sectors and support international development in SoutheastAsia Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America.

The majority of HAMERKOPs clients and partners are private project developers and financialsponsors international NGOs start-ups carbon trading desks and international developmentagencies.

Dedicated research:

If you need to conduct dedicated research as part of your MSc curriculum this is a list of topics that are relevant to us and we could support you with: Aligning Nature-based Solutions (NbS) with SE Asias NDCs; Best practices in carbon projects: lessons from SE Asia; NbS in SE Asia regional carbon markets; Comparing carbon certification standards for NbS in SE. We are also open to any other relevant topics.

Support a range of consulting tasks:

In addition you will be offered the opportunity to support the team on a range of consulting assignment giving you the opportunity to be exposed to the work a leading consulting firm does including:

  • Technical consulting work: emission reduction calculation monitoring and data analysis draftingof technical reports analysis of developing legislation carbon finance project eligibilityassessment among others.
  • Others: supporting education material drafting implementing of team work improvementmeasures etc.

    Candidate desired skills and knowledge

    Required

    • Currently undertaking a MSc in a scientific field related to climate change andenvironmental sciences (e.g. conservation forestry agriculture marine ecologyenergygeospatial analysis)
    • Attention to details strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to produce well presented error-free results and reports
    • Curious and keen to learn
    • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work autonomously
    • Willing to support a small but growing and purpose-driven consulting firm
    • Spoken and written fluency in English

    Desired

    • Knowledge of climate change forestry and agriculture issues in the context of developingcountries gained through a previous exposure or experience in a related subject
    • Spoken and written fluency in a second language relevant to SE Asia
    • Prior exposure to greenhouse gas emission accounting notably in the natural environment aspart of a research project or a prior internship
    • Advanced knowledge of Word PowerPoint and Excel

    Location

    Our office is in Singapore (Robinson Road). Remote working is in operation at HAMERKOP but interns will be expected tospend 4 days a week at the office with the team.

    Terms of internship

    • This position is for a 3 to 4-month full-time internship although we may consider different period of time for university courses requiring a specific internship period
    • We are currently looking for 2 interns to start in Q1 Q2 and/or Q3 2026
    • The start date of the internship is flexible and could be between January and September 2026depending on the candidate preference
    • The candidate must be based in Singapore and/or have the right to intern/work in Singapore
      The candidate must be on its final study year and willing to stay in Singapore as this programme ismeant for students looking for a permanent position after their internship
