In this role youll:
Motivate and guide a tight knit road maintenance team in a non-trades environment
Work collaboratively with your crew to resolve issues and find the best solution to problems that may arise
Contribute to finding solutions to improve productivity during daily team meetings
Manage any conflict between team members or related external stakeholders
Be able to work autonomously with limited supervision and be able to think on your feet to resolve issues
Mentor and lead by example when providing on the job training to team members in accordance with relevant procedures
Ensure safety is front and centre when performing daily activities and all environmental quality controls are implemented on site
Ensure scheduled maintenance activities are completed within the desired timeframes and within budget in accordance with TfNSW specifications and operating procedures
Perform road maintenance and manual labouring tasks using plant and equipment and powered and non-powered hand tools
Road maintenance activities may include but not limited to sign installations grass cutting drain cleaning pavement repair pothole repairs and incident response
On occasion attend after hours call outs when required
Keep up to date with WHS legislation and policies and procedures as it relates to minimising risk and keeping to safe work standards
Work a 9-day fortnight roster

About you
Were seeking a proactive and organised leader with extended knowledge and experience in a civil construction environment who can provide strong leadership to bring out the best in their team.
You will be an excellent communicator with great negotiation and conflict resolution skills. You will have proven ability to follow appropriate safe working procedures and resolve routine problems independently.

You must hold the following qualifications:
Experience operating at a Road Worker Grade 3 or related labouring experience in a civil construction environment and sound experience using internal reporting systems.
While not essential a truck driver licence would be highly considered along with experience with plant and machinery and traffic controller tickets.
We take WH&S and the management of fatigue of our employees seriously. Therefore to be successful in this role it is a requirement that you must reside within a 100 km distance from the Holbrook depot.
