LifeWorks ofAustin TXis looking for a part-time (20hrs.) Wellness Coordinator to join our Peer Services team! The Wellness Coordinator will be responsible for designing coordinating and facilitating wellness activities that support the health well-being and recovery goals of youth and young adults served by our organization. This role will establish and maintain strong relationships with community partners lead engaging workshops and ensure that wellness initiatives are holistic inclusive and youth centered. The Wellness Coordinator will help foster an environment that promotes resilience self-care and personal growth offering times and locations that are accessible and convenient for participants. Activities may occasionally occur outside of regular business hours including evenings and weekends.
This is a part-time non-exempt position. This position has a starting rate of $22.00/hr. paid bi-weekly. Benefits are also included which consist of 24 PTO days per year (accrued); 11 paid holidays per year; a premium-free employee medical plan with $100 per month HSA contribution (plus other affordable employee or family medical dental and vision options!); a retirement savings plan with 50% match on the first 6% of contributions and much more!
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan schedule and coordinate a variety of recovery and wellness activities including workshops support groups fitness and mindfulness practices creative arts and other holistic health opportunities for youth and young adults.
- Coordinate strong partnerships with various vendors that may support the initiative on an in-kind or fee-based relationship. Facilitate all logistics in maintaining these connections administratively and as a partnership.
- Facilitate regular wellness and recovery-related groups and activities for diverse individuals who may have experienced chronic homelessness systems involvement mental health challenges substance use challenges a history of trauma Examples of relevant topics and/or activities include but are not limited to: Yoga Zumba 12-Step groups all recovery groups art activities etc.
- Promote recovery resiliency and accountability to help others initiate or achieve long-term recovery to enhance quality of life health and wellness.
- Collaborate with staff to integrate wellness practices into daily programming and events.
- Participation in outreach opportunities to effectively engage with individuals who may be unfamiliar with LifeWorks services and supports.
- Plan develop and provide wellness and recovery-related presentations and outreach on a variety of topics such as harm reduction substance use and disease prevention/intervention health/mental health promotion trauma and recovery community resources relationship-building and coping strate
- Create and maintain a calendar of events and activities and coordinate the creation and distribution of marketing materials.
- Participate in groups and activities to gather feedback on participant satisfaction and suggestions and remain present during all scheduled activities to provide support with needs that may arise including logistics emergencies or other unexpected situations.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with agency staff and community contacts such as referral sources recovery community organizations peer-run programs in non-recovery organizations and other service providers.
- Maintain up-to-date online documentation of client services and contacts by frequently entering into agency database.
- Comply with all requirements outlined by funding sources licensure and accrediting bodies the program and the agency. These requirements may pertain to data paperwork philosophies processes and procedures among other things.
- Maintain approved supervision and continuing education.
- Use crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to assist clients in mental or emotional crisis.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires a GED or HS Diploma and 1 year of related individual and group peer support experience.
- Requires obtaining certification as a Certified Peer Support Specialist (PSS) within 9 months of hire.
- Requires lived experience with 1) trauma and 2) substance use or mental health challenges. Record of maintaining own recovery over the past 2-year period.
- Experience with databases; proficient level experience with Microsoft Office including Word Excel and Outlook.
