Position Summary

The Industrial Engineer Intern will support process analysis data-driven problem solving and layout optimization projects within the NADC. This internship provides exposure to applying industrial engineering principles in a high-volume distribution environment with an emphasis on efficiency ergonomics and continuous improvement. Interns will contribute to real improvement initiatives while gaining valuable technical and analytical experience.

Principal Responsibilities

- Collect analyze and interpret time study labor usage and workflow data.

- Assist in developing labor standards productivity benchmarks and capacity models.

- Support warehouse layout and material flow projects (AutoCAD exposure a plus).

- Contribute to Kaizen and Lean projects helping reduce waste and improve efficiency.

- Partner with supervisors and managers to trial and validate process changes.

- Present a final project on an assigned operational improvement opportunity.

Education / Experience Requirements

- Actively pursuing a Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline.

- Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills.

- Interest in Lean Six Sigma and process optimization.

- Proficiency in Excel; exposure to AutoCAD simulation tools or WMS preferred.

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

- Exposure to data collection and analysis in an operational setting.

- Hands-on experience with process mapping and workflow improvement.

- Participation in real-world Lean/Kaizen initiatives.

- Strong teamwork communication and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
