Job Summary

Denver Health Medical Center has an opportunity for a dynamic leader to join our team as an Associate Chief Medical Officer. The Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) reports to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and provides leadership for clinical operations across the hospital and specialty clinics ensuring high-quality efficient care delivery. The role oversees physicians and clinical staff while partnering closely with Operations Finance and Quality to optimize utilization management accurate billing and coding revenue integrity hospital flow emergency management and transfer center activities. The ACMO is responsible for developing policies advancing standards of care and leading enterprise-wide initiatives that strengthen clinical financial and operational performance. This position blends administrative leadership with active clinical practice requiring exceptional communication data analysis and collaboration skills to align patient care with organizational strategy.

Essential Functions:

  • Clinical Oversight
    In partnership with the CMO Chief Quality Officer Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer coordinates and leads the management and oversight of clinical services ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices and protocols effective hospital and transfer center utilization management revenue integrity compliance and effectiveness and hospital emergency preparedness/management.
  • Quality Improvement
    In partnership with the CQO and CMO monitors and improves clinical operations in order to enhance quality safety and patient experience metrics.
  • Medical Staff Leadership
    Provides guidance supervision and leadership to medical and clinical staff including convening clinical operations initiatives that span multiple departments and supporting clinical Department Chairs with enhancing clinical operations as well as necessary recruiting hiring onboarding and development of physician and APP leaders within their areas.
  • Policy & Procedure Development
    Leads development and implementation of clinical policies procedures and workflows to enhance efficiency and quality of patient care.
  • Data Analysis
    Utilizes data from electronic health records (EHRs) clinical operations finance and revenue integrity to analyze trends and identify opportunities for improvement in areas above.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    Participates actively and collaboratively in clinical leadership and executive meetings fosters trust across clinical departments and builds relationships with internal and external stakeholders to improve clinical operations meet organizational clinical goals and support Denver Healths strategic plan.
  • Clinical Practice
    Maintains a partial clinical practice of at least 30% time demonstrating competence in their clinical specialty area and serving as a clinical role model for physicians and APPs.


Education:

  • Doctorate Degree Required


Work Experience:

  • 5 years of progressively responsible and directly related management experience with committees organization-wide projects medical staff or large clinical departments. Possesses a strong clinical background. Required


Licenses:

  • MD/DO- Physician - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to extract analyze and interpret clinical operational quality and financial data to identify opportunities for improvement build consensus for action and drive decision-making. Skilled at translating insights from data analysis into understanding and effective change management across a wide variety of clinical areas and departments.
  • Committed to continuous quality improvement and patient-centered care. Formal experience with improvement methods including LEAN Six Sigma or PDSA or willingness to participate in Denver Healths LEAN Academy to gain these skills is highly desired.
  • Excellent oral written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with staff patients and executives. Highly skilled at navigating competing interests potential conflict across groups and both 1-on-1 and large group communication that is tailored to the audience. Able to use communication as an effective catalyst for organizational change.
