PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 29000 - 39000 depending on relevant skills knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

This role is advertised as part of our BBC Extend programme for disabled people. BBC Media Operations is at the heart of teams delivering incredible content across all our platforms for all audiences. Comprising around nine hundred people it manages the craft and production operations for the BBCs news radio and sport services across London Salford and Birmingham - capturing editing and producing our output 24x7 for TV radio and online. Our team are experts in their field with exceptional technical operational and production creativity at their heart.

The Media Operations Sound team covers a diverse range of events including Glastonbury golf The Proms comedy performance opera tennis tournaments and concerts as well as complex one-off events at home and abroad. We also produce a large amount of studio based output for our national radio networks and BBC addition we manage and run events in the BBC Radio Theatre and we have a suite of specialist music studios at Maida Vale.



WHY JOIN THE TEAM


We are looking for an Assistant Technical Producer to join the Speech team in London. Assistant Technical producers in this area have extensive craft audio experience and work on live and recorded speech-based content and are responsible for the sound design on multiple longform strands as well as any visualisation requirements associated with them. Extensive experience of working with speech-based content well- developed sound engineering skills and an awareness of recent technological developments are a prerequisite for the role.

Operate and balance live radio showsconfidently both solo and as part of a team across studio and outside broadcast environments.
Apply audio craft skillsto assemble and edit content using current production tools offering creative and technical guidance.
Set up and manage equipmentfor studio and OBs ensuring safe and effective use including rigging testing and communications setup.
Collaborate with contributors and production teamsto meet technical needs advise on sound balance and support planning and logistics.
Contribute to innovation and planning helping improve workflows and ensuring productions are delivered on time and within budget.


YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE


ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:


Experience of working under pressure in a live studio environment with the ability to balance and control audio content
Well-developed critical listening skills acquired through working on craft audio sound design projects using digital editing software
You will have a high degree of technical literacy and be comfortable using standard PC software tools alongside more bespoke solutions to share ideas and manipulate audio content
You should demonstrate an enthusiastic interest in the professional media field and show that you keep pace with new developments.
Examples of good communication skills and demonstrable experience of managing relationships both within an immediate team and with external partners combined with examples of planning and organising skills alongside the personal drive and ambition to achieve personal and shared team goals even when working alone.
