Position is a Nurse Supervisor I located at the Lumberton Correctional Institution in Lumberton NC.This facility houses approximately 788 medium custody male offenders. The Nurse Supervisor I is responsible for ensuring professional nursing care and treatment is afforded to patients within medical policies and protocols and is consistent with Board of Nursing requirements. Responsibilities include but are not limited to direct supervision of all nursing staff staff schedules assignments orientation performance improvement evaluations and clinical competency evaluations. The Nurse Supervisor I supervises and conducts needs assessments develops implements and evaluates treatment plans and provides patient care and education to offenders. Position will ensure all policies and procedures are followed and submit short- and long-term care goals to leadership for review and approval. Position will perform administrative duties such as planning organizing and managing daily operations quality assurance Human Resources management functions and staff development. The Nurse Supervisor I will be required to develop and maintain effective communication and work relationships with physicians upper management healthcare personnel patients families agencies and others. The Nurse Supervisor must have the ability to identify and address quality monitoring and performance improvement issues for the facility. May be required to work any schedule to ensure medical operational needs are met at the facility level.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and two years of nursing experience.

The team of physicians nurses behavioral health services dental services psychiatric services pharmacy services and licensed healthcare administration services work together to provide emergent acute routine and chronic health care as well as preventive medicine at all prison facilities. They also coordinate with specialists and other clinical consultants outside of prisons throughout the state to ensure comprehensive health and well-being towards a safe transition from prison improving public health and decreasing recidivism.
DAC uses the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions subject to the State Human Resources Act with the most qualified individuals. Hiring salary will be based on relevant qualifications internal equity and budgetary considerations pertinent to the advertised position.
