This role is advertised as part of our BBC Extend programme for disabled people. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Working as part of our talented team of journalists youll be covering the stories which matter to the people of Shropshire. Were looking for someone who is creative has a nose for an original story and can cover anything from a police drugs raid to a missing capybara. Youll be working across platforms - and providing engaging content for online radio TV and social media. Ideally youll also have experience of reading bulletins although this is not essential.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

Delivering strong original journalism
Work with programme teams to develop creative and engaging content.
Willingness to learn new skills and put them into practice.
A self-starter youll be able to work on your own as well as part of a team.
Develop a good knowledge of the area and the issues which matter to the people who live here.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

Good news judgment and grasp of editorial and legal guidelines.
Ability to make and nurture new contacts.
Track record of finding stories and an ability to make them work across multiple platforms.
Strong on-air voice
Great writing skills

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

Knowledge of BBC systems including Optimo Dira and OpenMedia.
Experience of news reading.
Full Driving licence
A knowledge of the issues which are important to working families in Shropshire.
