Position Purpose
The Employee Health & Disability Management Specialist promotes a culture of health safety and wellness across the Division. This position develops and manages programs in attendance support disability management and wellness helping employees return to work access accommodations and maintain their physical and mental well-being. With a strong background in healthcare and wellness the successful candidate will use both clinical and administrative expertise to support staff and improve organizational health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Attendance & Disability Management
Provide guidance to supervisors and administrators on applying the attendance support program.
Review employee attendance records and coordinate support programs as needed.
Oversee return-to-work processes accommodations and disability cases with fairness and confidentiality.
Manage disability files and collaborate with Occupational Health the Workers Compensation Board and other health professionals.
Monitor and analyze attendance data to identify trends and recommend solutions.
Health & Wellness Initiatives
Design and deliver wellness programs that promote physical and mental health.
Provide education on health promotion illness prevention and available resources.
Partner with ASEBP EFAP Alberta Health Services and other agencies to expand wellness offerings.
Promote a culture of wellness and psychological safety through innovative programs.
Create the Division Wellness Committee and share updates with staff and leadership.
Policy Compliance & Stakeholder Engagement
Ensure practices align with Occupational Health and Safety Human Rights Employment Standards Education Act and privacy laws.
Collaborate with union representatives supervisors and administrators on wellness and disability management issues.
Assist leaders with training on attendance support and employee wellness.
Maintain confidentiality professionalism and ethical standards in all matters.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) designation in Alberta or equivalent healthcare credential.
Minimum 2 years experience in health services disability management occupational health or a related field.
Experience in employee health return-to-work planning or workplace wellness programs is an asset.
Experience working with unions and managing complex employee relations.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of human rights legislation Duty to Accommodate WCB and privacy regulations.
Strong clinical assessment case management and documentation skills.
Excellent communication interpersonal and conflict-resolution abilities.
Ability to build trust and collaborate with employees healthcare providers and leadership.
Strong organizational and data management skills with attention to detail.
