Place of performance: The Dental Hygienist Services will be performed on-site in the Health Services Department at the Federal Correctional Institution Tallahassee in Tallahassee FL. You must pass mandatory background credit check and drug screening.
Pay & benefits:
- Pay Rate: $44.54.
- $1500 Sign-on bonus.

- Sick Leave/PTO: One (1) hour accrual per every 30 hours work up to 56 hours per year.
- Vacation: Two (2) weeks paid vacation after one (1) year of service with a contractor or successor three (3) weeks after five (5) years and four (4) weeks after 15 years.
Shifts:
- 40 hours per week between the hours of 7:00am to 3:00pm. The shift will be up to 8 sessions per day with a thirty (30) minute unpaid lunch period if applicable Monday through Friday exclusive of Federal holidays.
Description of duties:
- Assists Dental Officer in dental specialty sections: restorative oral surgery periodontics prosthetics and examinations.
- Retrieve patients records and escorts patients to proper dental specialty section; seats and prepares patient for attending Dental Officer.
- Assists Dental Officer by preparing dental instruments essential materials drugs and medications.
- Passes instruments retracts tissues irrigates oral cavity and operates aspirator.
- Observes patients responses and assists patient for dismissal from the Dental Clinic.
- Gives instructions for subsequent dental appointments.
- Makes necessary entries on dental treatment records (both electronic and paper records).
- Prepares dental treatment room for the next patient.
- Assists in the treatment of emergency cases.
- Provides dental health education.
- Charting for dental screening exams.
- Preparation of patients for periodontal surgery.
- Dental and periodontal charting.
- Places temporary fillings.
- Prepares places and removes packs.
- Places and removes rubber dams.
- Maintains dental equipment.
- Cleans sharpens and sterilizes instruments.
- Performs daily inspection of equipment and makes minor repairs.
- Reports defective equipment or utilizes corrective action.
- Prepares entries for patients records.
Education and experience:
- Candidate is required to be certified/licensed as a Dental Hygienist in Florida and must submit photocopies of their license and/or board certification.
- Dental radiology certification anesthesia certification and CPR certification are also required.
- In addition a minimum of one year of experience is preferred.
