Position Summary
The Safety Manager plays a critical role in ensuring a safe work environment across multiple projects. This position is responsible for developing implementing and monitoring safety programs and practices to comply with OSHA MSHA and industry standards. The Safety Manager will maintain and update company safety policies oversee safety activities in the field and serve as a key resource for training inspections and accident prevention. The safety manager has one direct report a safety specialist.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop manage and enforce safety and health programs training and inspections that comply with OSHA and MSHA regulations.
- Recommend and implement measures to protect workers from hazardous methods processes or materials.
- Inspect and evaluate job sites equipment and practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Order suspension of activities that present imminent danger to workers health or safety.
- Investigate accidents and near-misses to identify root causes and prevention measures.
- Conduct and document safety training programs including equipment demonstrations.
- Maintain safety training records and emergency response plans.
- Provide new-employee safety orientations and related training materials.
- Coordinate and maintain hazard communication (right-to-know) programs.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to address hazardous conditions or unsafe practices.
- Conduct random inspections of vehicles equipment and projects to ensure compliance.
- Maintain and update OSHA and MSHA binders ensuring foremen and leads have accurate and organized documentation.
- Attend required OSHA and MSHA training.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Maintain expense reports and ensure accurate coding of receipts.
- Maintain a professional appearance demeanor and company vehicle.
- Support company values by promoting teamwork respect and professionalism at all times.
Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge in (or willingness to learn):
- OSHA and MSHA regulations
- Site-specific hazards and conditions
- Heavy equipment safety and operations (loaders excavators dozers graders compactors etc.)
- General site preparation techniques and procedures
- Road construction and maintenance methods
- Equipment maintenance storage and surveying/layout practices

- Analytical and problem-solving capability
- Effective decision-making under pressure
- Ability to manage time and stress effectively
