Job Description

The SoftPro Custom Development Team is seeking anAssociate Product Ownerto join us. This position can be located in our Raleigh NC office or as a remote must be able to work East Coast hours an occasionally be able to attend in-person meetings in Raleigh NC when needed.

What is the goal of this position
We want to give an opportunity to a highly performing current SoftPro employee to become proficient in the role of a Product Owner in the Real Estate Title and Escrow domain. This role will provide a growth path from your current operational or technical role into product management. We value your institutional knowledge and will provide the guidance and training needed to develop your product ownership skills.

The primary responsibility of the Product Owner is to develop requirements into stories and prioritize the Team Backlog to streamline the execution of product/project priorities focusing on Custom Development initiatives.

The PO has a significant role in quality and is the only team member empowered to accept stories as done. The role has significant relationships and responsibility outside the scrum team including working with Product and Program Management on product roadmaps and coordinating with development to maintain technical integrity of the teams areas of ownership. Additionally the Product Owner will work within our Custom Development team building custom integrations focusing not only on the business requirements but also the technical and tactical goals aligned with security architecture and our overall strategic objectives.

What will I do as an Associate Product Owner on the Custom Development Team at SoftPro
The successful Associate Product Owner candidate will have a basic understanding of the Product Owner role as well as SCRUM and Agile principles.

Responsibilities and Duties
As an Associate Product Owner on the Custom Development Team you will:
  • Study and learn our way of implementing SCRUM and Agile development.
  • In the first 2 months youll shadow existing Product Owners; by 3 months you will lead standups and work on resolving blockers for the team; by 6 months youll independently manage product features and keep growing your Product Owner skills.
  • You will be paired with an experienced Product Owner who will provide regular coaching sessions and gradually transfer responsibilities as you develop.
  • Assist the Product Owner with the following duties with the goal of sitting in the drivers seat
Own your product(s)
  • Maintain vision and clarity for your product(s) as it relates to the overall product vision and mission.
  • Ensure the right feature for the product is built based off your understanding of the customers needs/wants and balancing that against organization standards and structured guidelines.
  • Make certain that non-functional technical requirements such as performance and stability are at the forefront of the delivery roadmap are clear and measurable and are part of the Acceptance Criteria for your stories.
Understand your customer
  • Have a good understanding of workforce and customer identity concepts tools vendors and implementations.
  • Bethe voice of the customer to the development teams.
Own your backlog
  • Identify maintain improve and prioritize product backlog items.
  • Build and keep a backlog depth of stories that follow the organizational DOR with a minimum of 2 sprints of work ahead of planning timelines.
  • Coordinate with Product Manager and other key stakeholders to maintain a long-term product area plan.
Guide and influence your team
  • Motivate support and appreciate all members of your team.
  • Consistently reinforce product vision customer goals and the why to your team.
  • Embody and reinforce an agile mindset on your team by holding yourself and others accountable to maintaining agile methodologies. Call out inefficiencies provide constructive feedback and actively collaborate with all team members.
  • Work with Product Manager to ensure clear visibility into the work of the team.
Your progress will be evaluated based on your ability to increasingly take ownership of product decisions successfully manage the SCRUM process with your team communicate effectively with stakeholders and develop high-quality user stories.
Youll receive regular structured feedback through weekly 1:1s with your mentor and Product Manager

What do I need to be successful as an Associate Product Owner at SoftPro
  • 2 years experience and proficiency with SoftPro Select is required.
  • Real Estate Title and Escrow industry knowledge
  • Consistently demonstrate a thorough understanding of customer requirements and offer suggestions to improve user experience through existing process and design.
  • Strong aptitude to understand new and complex business requirements and translate those requirements alongside customer needs to a technical audience including development and QA team members.
  • Willingness to learn technical concepts including SQL and RESTful APIs with training provided. Experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in creating project plans and achieving milestones.
  • A basic understanding of Agile methodologies.
  • Ideal candidate will have experience coordinating cross-functional teams setting timelines and tracking progress using digital tools to keep organized.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to multi-task meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Receptive to feedback. Strong sense of awareness and responsibility to performing duties. Continuously seeks opportunities to improve.
  • Must be a problem solver detail-oriented highly organized and results driven.
