Fellowship Program Position: This Fellowship Program position is a full-time temporary limited term assignment not to exceed three years from the date of hire. It is intended for individuals that have graduated with a bachelors degree or a masters degree from an accredited college or university within the last 12 months.
The System Administrator Associate is responsible for performing complex systems administration and support work. The incumbent will assist with the maintenance of the security and integrity of communication infrastructure systems and cybersecurity systems as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code; and be responsible for Mobile Device Management and hardware inventory; assist with creating managing and maintaining desktop images software application installs and troubleshooting computer images and process automation through scripting; and provide level 3 support to agency staff. This position will work proactively with other IT staff and agency employees.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
System Application Support
Assists with creating desktop imaging and deployment tools.
Assists with maintaining application packaging and endpoint rollout processes.
Analyzes and resolves escalated desktop system and application problems.
Assists with keeping up with trends in technology relating to Microsoft OS and applications.
Mobile Device and Endpoint Management
Maintains and tracks all hardware inventory to include iPhones iPads laptops desktops monitors headsets etc.
Troubleshoots iPhone IPad and PC hardware and software problems with users.
Assists with documenting work performed in a highly detailed and accurate manner.
Escalates trouble call assignments as required.
Project Management
Participates in Information Technology projects as assigned.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion of projects.
Maintains project tracking and provides status reports to senior leadership.
Fellowship Curriculum
Participates in trainings and projects related to the TRS Fellowship Program including webinars quarterly check-ins classes or other learning activities book group projects and the mentoring program.
Meets TRS Fellowship Program deadlines and goals for completion of trainings in deliverables in a timely manner.
Performs related work as assigned
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
Required Education
Bachelors degree or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science Information Technology or a closely related field awarded within the last 12 months.
Required Experience
Must have the ability to maintain the security and integrity of communication infrastructure systems and cybersecurity systems as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code.
No prior work experience required.
Required Registration Certification or Licensure
None.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft InTune System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) Microsoft Active Directory; PowerShell scripting Microsoft Group Policy
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of:
The practices principles and techniques of computer operations.
Microsoft Windows operating systems Office suites and general PC hardware and software used in a business environment.
Skills in:
Using a computer in a Microsoft Windows environment with word processing spreadsheet and other business software.
Troubleshooting complex PC hardware and software problems.
Communicating complex technical information via telephone to people of all levels of technical skill and knowledge.
Planning organizing and coordinating work assignments to effectively meet frequent and/or multiple deadlines handling multiple tasks simultaneously and in managing conflicting priorities and demands.
PowerShell scripting with the ability to create and modify as needed.
Creating SCCM packages and task sequences.
Ability to:
Establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with co-workers agency staff and external contacts and work effectively in a professional team environment.
Work extended and irregular hours due to internal and external obligations and travel occasionally for training.
