Job Summary

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring the sustained long-term performance and reliability of plant mechanical systems. This role integrates reliability and asset health strategies into daily station operations focusing on proactive identification and resolution of equipment issues before failure. The engineer collaborates with Maintenance Fleet Engineering and Operations teams to optimize equipment performance minimize operational risk and maintain compliance with regulatory safety and corporate standards. This is a 6-month contract position located in Waynesboro GA.
Location:Waynesboro Georgia United States
Responsibilities:

- Perform routine monitoring and trending of system parameters to identify early indicators of equipment degradation or failure.
- Conduct regular system walkdowns to proactively identify degrading conditions and reliability risks.
- Collaborate with schedulers operators and maintenance teams to ensure reliability-related work is planned prioritized and executed with appropriate timing and quality.
- Review evaluate and update preventive and predictive maintenance strategies in alignment with industry best practices.
- Incorporate lessons learned from previous maintenance activities to continuously improve system reliability and performance.
- Lead or support root cause evaluations for equipment failures and performance issues.
- Develop implement and track corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Drive long-term asset planning initiatives including lifecycle management of critical mechanical systems and components.
- Participate in industry benchmarking activities to identify best practices and performance improvements.
- Ensure compliance with the Maintenance Rule (10 CFR 50.65) quality standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
Required Skills & Certifications:

- Bachelors degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering maintenance and operations teams.
- Demonstrates ownership and accountability for assigned programs projects and tasks.
- Develops effective strategies to optimize resource utilization.
- Works constructively through conflicts to achieve win-win outcomes.
