Job Summary

GENERAL SUMMARYThe Custodial Shift Supervisor is responsible for working with the Director of Facilities and a team of custodians. The purpose of this position is to support the oversight of the general cleaning maintenance and minor repair work inside and outside of school buildings. This role requires a hands-on approach combining shift supervisor duties with direct custodial work to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard. The shift supervisor also serves as a primary point of contact for the custodial shift and coordinating and managing operational needs under the direction of the Director of Facilities. This position also includes direct custodial and maintenance duties including responsibilities for general cleaning maintenance and repair work inside and outside School JOB FUNCTIONSUnder the direction of the Director of Facilities the Custodial/Shift Supervisor is responsible for the supervisory operational management and direct custodial/maintenance duties as outlined Responsibilities:Oversee the daily activities of the custodial staff on a designated and monitor custodial tasks to ensure all areas are cleaned and maintained according to schedule and established new custodial staff and provide ongoing and resolve issues that arise during the shift referring complex problems to the Director of Facilities when Management:Monitor disseminate and respond to custodial help desk tickets assigning tasks to team members and ensuring timely and effective regular inspections of all school areas to ensure quality control and adherence to safety and track custodial supply inventory and coordinate with the Director of Facilities to order new supplies as all custodial equipment including floor scrubbers vacuums and snow removal equipment is well-maintained and in good working each shift any building alerts such as HVAC refrigeration etc. and respond accordingly and notify the Director of Facilities when the Director of Facilities with minor construction projects as the building and grounds annual calendar of events monthly with the Director of Facilities and coordinate dissemination of monthly Custodial & Maintenance Duties:Performing all cleaning tasks inside and outside School buildings including sweeping using vacuum cleaner mopping scrubbing stripping buffing sealing and waxing floors and and arranging furniture equipment draperies and storage wastepaper and other materials and emptying waste receptacles inside and outside of the light routine maintenance on lavatory equipment including unstopping plugged ice and snow from School grounds and roof decks salting and and unlocking facility and securing facility when leaving the building vacant including setting and storing supplies and up and delivering and prompt other duties may from time to time be assigned by the Director of JOB FUNCTIONSOccasional minor electrical work carpentry plumbing and security functions as forklift on intermittent school vehicles as SKILLS. AND ABILITIESWorking knowledge of building cleaning to read labels and to follow oral and written instructions with little ongoing of or ability to learn and apply safety procedures and requirements for use storage and disposal of cleaning supplies and hazardous to establish and maintain positive working relationships with supervisors and staff and to deal courteously with supervisors staff students and members of the public who use the in basic building maintenance tasks including simple plumbing electrical work carpentry and to use a forklift snowplow and sander to use and dispose of cleaning products and other potentially hazardous materials to use a snow in operating cleaning tools and other custodial to do grounds work mowing and general EXPERIENCE. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS ANDCERTIFICATIONSILICENSESRequirements: Valid Massachusetts drivers license; ability to obtain OSHA 10 hour General Desirable: Diploma from an accredited secondary school or GED; Massachusetts Hydraulic Engineer CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTSSeeing: Must have the ability to read labels and instructions observe areas requiring custodial services and use custodial supplies and equipment : Must have the ability to understand instructions and communicate with students staff and other building Activities: Heavy physical activity including regular lifting of 50 pounds shoveling bending stooping climbing stairs and ladders and reaching overhead; long hours of standing and walking.
