Summary

THIS OPPORTUNITY IS OPEN ONLY TO CURRENT KING COUNTY EMPLOYEES

Metro Transit is seeking an enthusiastic engaged and well-roundedHR Manager II. TheHR Manager IIwill be providing leadership and consultation across general functional areas of Human Resources within the department. You will play a pivotal role in the provision of informed and effective HR support within a highly unionized and complex labor relations department with a strong emphasis on equity inclusion and belonging throughout the employee lifecycle.

This position will report to the Metros Deputy Division Director and will work with and support a highly skilled team of human resource service delivery professionals. This is a unique opportunity to draw on your strong leadership and change management skills in a fast-paced growing department to meet the service excellence goals set by the department. You will use your strong interpersonal skills to build and leverage relationships lead data-driven programs designed to solve entrenched problems and facilitate high level of HR support across all divisions of Metro.

We also operate the largest public van pool fleet in the nation as well as Sound Transit Regional Express buses Link Light Rail and Seattle Streetcar.

We are a leader in technology and eco-conscious practices and continuously develop new and innovative ways to improve the overall transit experience for our customers and the public through Lean Management and other continuous improvement principles.


Position Info:This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) Career Services HR Manager II addition this selection process may be used to generate an eligibility list for future Career Service (CS)Special Duty Assignment (SDA) and Term Limited Temporary (TLT) positions that may occur in this classification and workgroup. The eligibility pool list is valid for up to 12 months from the time of posting for use at the discretion of the hiring authority.

Job Duties

Provide direct supervision leadership and guidance to Metro Employee Services division HR teams including:

Build and lead effective teams by:
  • Coaching and mentoring direct reports as well as creating and implementing development plans and goals
  • Allocating staff and resources to meet the service delivery demands and workload fluctuations
  • Setting high standards for customer focus and timely completion of deliverables
  • Setting and continuously reviewing metrics for progress on achieving department team and individual goals
  • Cultivate a welcoming inclusive and psychologically safe workplace that values diversity and respect for all employees.
Model best practices in leadership by:
  • Fostering an environment of continuous learning and development of skills
  • Supporting a model of high-quality service delivery and accountability
  • Creating a welcoming inclusive and safe environment for all employees
  • Consistently apply equity and social justice principles in all aspects of HR work ensuring that these values are foundational to decision-making service delivery and workplace culture.
  • Promote behaviors practices and policies that foster an inclusive and equitable environment for all employees.




Experience Qualifications Knowledge Skills

Minimum Qualifications

Desired Qualifications:
  • High volume HR generalist experience in a public sector environment
  • Previous work experience as a Human Resources Manager in a public sector environment
  • Strong working knowledge and proficiency with PeopleSoft

Work Schedule
This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and overtime eligible. Work hours
are comprised of a 40-hour work week within core hours of workday normally 6:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Work Location

The primary location of the position is at the King Street Center offices 201 S. Jackson St. Seattle WA 98104.

Temporary Telecommuting Requirement
The work associated with this position will be performed through a combination of teleworking and working in the office. Employees in this classification will work in the office approximately 1-2 days per week in the future. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
