Summary:
The HVAC/Refrigeration Construction Pipefitter is responsible for installing assembling fabricating and maintaining piping systems used in commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration projects. This role involves reading and interpreting blueprints laying out piping routes welding or threading pipe and ensuring systems are properly connected and tested to meet specifications and safety standards. The ideal candidate is experienced in mechanical construction environments and works effectively as part of a field installation team.

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Install and assemble piping systems for HVAC and refrigeration equipment including chillers condensers evaporators and compressors.
Cut thread groove bend and weld pipe using proper tools machinery and techniques.
Measure layout and align pipe runs according to plans specifications and building codes.
Secure pipes to structures with brackets clamps or hangers and ensure proper support.
Install valves fittings flanges and related components to complete system connections.
Read and interpret blueprints mechanical drawings and project specifications to determine material needs and work procedures.
Pressure test and inspect completed systems for leaks and performance compliance.
Collaborate with project managers foremen and other trades to ensure installations meet quality and schedule expectations.
Follow all safety protocols and OSHA standards including proper use of PPE tools and lifting techniques.
Maintain tools equipment and work areas in clean organized and safe conditions.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues encountered during installation or testing phases.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required; technical school or apprenticeship in pipefitting HVAC or refrigeration preferred.
1 year of experience as a pipefitter in commercial or industrial HVAC/refrigeration construction.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical and piping drawings.
Strong understanding of piping codes safety regulations and mechanical system components.
Ability to safely operate pipe threading machines welding/brazing equipment and power tools.
Basic math measurement and layout skills.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced construction environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in various positions including overhead and confined spaces.
Prolonged standing walking climbing bending and use of hand/power tools.
