The Role
The successful candidate for this position will help manage ongoing research projects by managing day-to-day administrative and financial matters. This role supports the operations of the Office of Applied Research and Innovation and the Research Coordinator is the primary point of contact for our office. The Research Coordinator will be expected to liaise with project investigators research assistants and partners to maintain records track grants and monitor financial administration of funding. The position requires familiarity with finance NWP policies and funder policies such as the Tri-Agency Guide on Financial Administration.
Responsibilities:
Assist with budget planning financial reporting processing and monitoring of expenses.
Maintain accurate lists of equipment and supplies and facilitate ordering and procurement following institutional policy.
Assist with the coordination of technical and other services for research personnel and the Office of Applied Research and Innovation.
Maintain records for financial and research reporting. Update and maintain data required for internal and external reporting purposes.
Act as the first point of contact for internal and external contacts for research and project administration.
Comply with policies and procedures for responsible research according to both NWP and funder requirements.
Coordinate event and outreach activities (e.g. meetings symposia conferences) as required.
A Bachelors degree is required for this position.
Required skills and attributes:
Experience working in an academic research environment.
Knowledge of financial and regulatory reporting requirements.
Intermediate knowledge of Excel.
Experience managing records and using databases to track project details.
Knowledge of Tri-Agency requirements for the responsible conduct of research and financial reporting.
Knowledge of research integrity or commitment to complete required training.
Demonstrated ability to liaise with industry representatives across sectors including government and private sector stakeholders.
Proven ability to multi-task to work well under pressure and to prioritize tasks appropriately while meeting time-sensitive demands.
Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented approach to managing information.
Ability to coordinate small- and large-scale events with diverse audiences.
Effective communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in digital tools such as MS Office and other technology platforms including marketing tools and social media.
