Job Description:
To provide direct patient care and clinical assessment adult patients under the direction of a specific physician who is an active member of the New England Baptist Hospital Medical Staff. The Physician Assistant will function within specified parameters as defined by the sponsoring physician and Massachusetts State rules and regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
- Makes accurate identification of problems/diagnoses based on correct interpretation of findings.
- Communicates with primary physician the plan of care being initiated or discontinued.
- Assists patients in meeting health needs by identifying existing or potential problems exploring available alternatives and providing support to the patient to make an informed decision regarding health care.
- Acts as a liaison between sponsoring physician and patients and between sponsoring physician and other allied health professionals.
- Manages and responds to patient phone calls and other communications
- Maintains current accurate medical record documentation
- Initiates appropriate laboratory tests diagnostic studies and writes prescriptions within parameters of license.
OTHER POTENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (based on specific clinic/supervising physician needs)
- Participates in those surgeries assigned by the sponsoring physician the chief PA and the Chief Resident.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters degree
- Licensed Physician Assistant in State of MA
- MCSR State of MA
- DEA Federal Government
- Basic Life Support Certification
