This recruitment aims to fill a Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) position with an anticipated duration of up to two (2) years. If the position is filled by a King County employee who has successfully completed their initial probation they will be offered the role as a Special Duty Assignment.



The Administrative team within the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) section of King Countys Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD) provides essential support services that enhance the efficiency safety and effectiveness of the sections operations. This team manages a wide range of administrative functions including timekeeping procurement contract management data tracking documentation and compliance reporting. By streamlining administrative processes and ensuring smooth operational logistics the administrative staff plays a pivotal role in enabling technical teams to focus on maintaining and improving the wastewater infrastructure.

This role serves as the first point of contact for the treatment plants providing a welcoming and professional presence for visitors clients and employees. The role involves managing front-desk operations answering and directing calls handling inquiries and ensuring smooth communication within the organization. Job Duties

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Serve as main receptionist and as the first point of contact for the treatment plant. Under general supervision provide direct customer service and administrative support to both internal and external customers of the Wastewater Treatment Division. Greet and screen visitors warmly and direct them appropriately; take and relay messages; manage conference room and fleet calendars; and ensure reception and conference areas are clean and organized.

  • Handle routine clerical tasks by distributing and processing mail and deliveries copying documents and scanning records as needed.

  • Manage office supplies and purchasing maintain office supply areas by ordering supplies and equipment. Use a P-card for purchases process invoices and payments and maintain accurate purchasing documentation.

  • Provide administrative support to management by assisting the Operations Manager and Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager. Prepare meeting packets update online directories and internal email lists support office space planning and surplus needs; and troubleshooting office equipment (e.g. copiers laminators). Monitor toner supplies and request service as necessary.

  • Compose draft proofread and edit documents to ensure they align with King County and WTD policies and procedures.

  • Communicate professionally and effectively. Provide accurate information about WTD services identify customer needs and route inquiries to the appropriate person or office. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all communications and when handling sensitive documents and information.

  • Coordinate front desk coverage. Manage time away from the front desk and proactively request backup coverage as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Experience Qualifications Knowledge Skills

Qualifications You Bring:

  • Two or more years of experience involving customer contact; greeting and assisting customers in person.
  • Experience working in environments that requires and maintains confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of office practices procedures and functions with the ability to use and troubleshoot office machines such as copiers scanners label makers laminators etc.
  • Keyboarding proficiency and accuracy of 50 words per minute.
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds for short distances.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of individuals in a tactful diplomatic patient and professional manner.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills including skill in proofing documents with special attention to vocabulary punctuation grammar formatting and spelling.
  • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability in daily attendance.

Required Licenses/Certifications:
  • Valid/Unrestricted Washington State Drivers License

Working Conditions:

  • Work Location:Brightwater Treatment Plant - 22505 State Route 9 SE Woodinville WA 98072. (This is not a telecommute position.)

  • Work Schedule:This full-time position works a 40-hour work week Monday-Friday. This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.

  • Union Representation:This position is represented byTeamsters Local 117Wastewater Treatment Division Professional & Technical andAdministrative Support.

    • NOTE: Salary reflects $1.00 per hour contribution to the Western Conference of Teamsters Pension Trust.
